CISOs from Deluxe, U.S. Bank and MerchantE joined the ATPC Cyber Council

July 20, 2021 – The American Transaction Processors Coalition (ATPC) Cyber Council, focused on promoting public and private cooperation in cyber security for the Financial Services industry, continues to expand membership, adding three new members from critical transaction companies, including Deluxe, U.S. Bank and MerchantE. The three new ATPC Cyber Council members join the 10 existing members from FIS, NCR, Mastercard, InComm, ACI Worldwide and more.

The following leaders will represent their companies on the ATPC Cyber Council:

  • Bill Alfveby, CISO, VP, Global Info, Deluxe
  • Tim Held, CISO, U.S. Bank
  • Jeff Simko, CISO, MerchantE

“Adding Bill Alfveby, Tim Held and Jeff Simko to the ATPC Cyber Council is a major win for the organization,” said ATPC Executive Director H. West Richards. “The ATPC and its member companies have been collaborating on cybersecurity issues for some time. The work of the Cyber Council is also showcasing how sharing best practices is good for the entire industry.”

The new members are already helping the ATPC Cyber Council fulfill their 2021 priorities: threatcasting; benchmarking maturity models; investigating supply chain security issues; and developing cybersecurity best practices.

The first half of 2021 has been active and impactful for the ATPC Cyber Council including hosting key officials from the U.S. Departments of Homeland Security, Treasury and more. The group hosted Executive Assistant Director for Cybersecurity at the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Eric Goldstein in April. Goldstein discussed the vital role the U.S. banking a financial services sectors play in our economy and efforts to protect this Critical Infrastructure and the DHS’ National Critical Function (NCF) designation. Earlier this month, the council participated in a discussion with Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX), senior House Democratic Leadership and Vice Chair of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, on how congress handles cybersecurity issues.

“The work of the ATPC Cyber Council is paving the way to focus on near, mid- and long-term cybersecurity needs of the payment processing industry as it continues to innovate and protect against cybersecurity attacks each and every day. We welcome our new Cyber Council members and look forward to expanding the bench of the Council as we continue to grow and transform the industry,” said Norma Krayem, ATPC Cybersecurity Council Director and Van Scoyoc Associates Vice President and Chair of the Cybersecurity, Privacy & Digital Innovation Practice Group.
