In 2018, the University System of Georgia launched the FinTech Academy, a collaboration between Georgia’s FinTech industry and the University System of Georgia. This initiative, the first of its kind in the world, develops university system students to better prepare them for the specialized and ever-developing FinTech industry.
The ATPC first proposed the idea of a FinTech curriculum in 2013. Working closely with the University System of Georgia Board of Regents, the ATPC connected the Board with industry leaders and helped target the classes and skills necessary to prepare students to become FinTech professionals. Through this collaboration, the concept evolved from a few specialized courses to a system-wide initiative that encompasses a talent-focused curriculum, experiential learning, professional training, and innovative research. The ATPC continues to support the Academy, promoting it in the ecosystem and helping to further tailor the training to best fit the industry’s needs.
